Google AdSense added option to verify sites using Ads.txt snippet

Highlights:

  • Website owners can verify their website in Google Adsense by updating their ads.txt file.
  • Legacy verification method by adding AdSense code between <head></head> tags still available.
  • Once you’re done, the Google AdSense team will review your site for approval.

Google added a new option to verify websites in Google AdSense.

Now website owners can verify their website in Google Adsense by updating their ads.txt file.

adsense ads.txt site verify

To get your site ready to show ads, copy and paste the text below into each ads.txt file and upload it to your site’s root directory. If you have an existing ads.txt file, just paste the text into each file.

Example ads.txt line:

google.com, pub-0000000000000000, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Don’t forget to replace the pub id with your AdSnese account publisher id.

Before this option, there was only one way to verify sites in an AdSense account. You are required to copy and paste your Adsense code between the <head></head> tags on each page of your site.

But with this new ads.txt verification method you can easily verify your site in your AdSense account.

Also, I have noticed this option in a new Google AdSense account. So it is possible that the old AdSense accounts haven’t received this option during the time when I’m wiring this article.
